Besides Work

Outside of Work, these are the few things that keep me occupied:

  • Cricket: I play recreational cricket on the weekends. I am primarily a bowler, but I would love to see my batting improve. In the Netherlands, I played a season for the wonderful Wanderers OSS team. We started playing in the fourth division, but the team has climbed much higher (in no part because I left the team :)).

  • Running: The weather in Houston does not permit running as frequently as I used to in the Netherlands (a good excuse, right). When I used to run frequently while in the Netherlands, I averaged close to 5.4’/km for a run of 10k+. Some pictures from running events in and around Eindhoven. Some Runs

  • Football: We used to play a friendly match once a week at HTC.

  • Side technical projects: With my great friends, I have worked on various side technical projects. Some of them were to solve our daily problems, like when we built an Android app to keep count of points for marriage :)

  • Hackathon: I regularly take part in hackathons, mostly on data science topics. I won all three inaugural hackathons on machine learning and health organized by UT Health (second, third, and first positions in the three years). I both take part in and organize hackathons.

  • Promoting science and technology in Nepal: A topic very dear to me. I regularly interact with students in Nepal to understand their pulse and do my part to show them the wonderful path ahead for them in the exploration of the beauty of the sciences. I am currently working on setting up different instruments, working closely with the people on the ground level, which could help further motivate more students into science and technology. If you want to team up or contribute, then drop me a message.
